The last post got long, but I have some incredible pictures from some adventures we went on recently that need to be shared.
Last Saturday Andrea invited us to join her organization's creek walk. We got to see where the city's treated grey water is released into the Santa Cruz to create what is called: effluent flow. Without this recycling process, there would be no consistent water in the Santa Cruz.
You can see in the first picture where the back flow of water ends and it is only a sandy expanse. We got to walk barefoot, squishing our toes in the mud with the warm water greeting our ankles.
Saturday evening we participated in a folklife festival downtown called Tucson Meet Yourself. Several blocks were closed off for the dozens of local food and art vendors. There were also live performances of music and dance at every corner.
On Sunday we went on a short hike around Sabino Lake. The "lake" is just a small pool of water as a result of a little damn, but any water in the desert is exciting.
The fifth person in these photos is our new friend Grace! She is a volunteer with me at Casa Alitas and has been joining us on many adventures.
It started raining part way through which gave us some spectacular views!
These photos feature some left foot (the one that that was in a cast) maneuvers, very exciting!
More adventures to come... Today we leave for a weekend in Flagstaff to visit the Grand Canyon!!
Nice pictures! (Where's the "boot"?)
